DECEMBER 1ST and Blogmas!

December 1st.jpeg

Let’s be honest, my tree got put up two days before Thanksgiving because I just couldn’t help myself and I am that person who started listening to Christmas music the day after Halloween. (Before you judge, I’ll have you know I listen to Halloween music all October but there is no such thing as Thanksgiving music so I have no choice but to move directly to Christmas music). And now, that December is finally here . . .

I absolutely ADORE Christmas time, for many reasons!

  • Firstly, Christmas for me is about Christ’s birth. I am blessed that there is a God who loves me enough to send his own son to live on this earth where He experienced his own share of heartache and pain. While Christ may not have actually been born in December, its the celebration itself and not the date that I am excited for.
  • Secondly, it’s another reason to get together with my family. I am not a huge shopper (thankfully because my wallet couldn’t support that habit anyway), but I do enjoy buying gifts for others. I love knowing that when they open my gift their eyes will light up. I love knowing that I can make them happy, especially when its the little things that do the trick.
  • Thirdly, school is out during Christmas break. So while the first two weeks of December are a bit hectic (finishing up that thesis, please send prayers my way!), the last two weeks are bliss. Also, this December I will be graduating with my Master’s degree so that’s an extra bonus!
  • Fourthly, the weather (FINALLY) begins to cool down and I get to enjoy Christmas sweaters (my newest one has candy cane sleeves and says “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”) and boots!
  • Fifthly, as already hinted at, I LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC! I will be posting about my top 12 favorite Christmas songs closer to Christmas.
  • Sixth, I love Christmas decorations and lights. My house has been decorated for a week now (my dad does an incredible job on the outside lights) and we have a very special carousel-mantel piece that my mom and I set up every year along with our manger scene.
  • Seventh, people seem genuinely kinder around Christmas. Perhaps its the lights, perhaps its the hot coco, perhaps its family, but whatever the reason, people seem to soften up during December.
  • Eighth, I’ve decided to participate in Blogmas this year. Apparently during the month of December bloggers can put their entire focus on Christmas or just a few posts here and there. Since I already had some Christmas posts planned, I’ve decided to officially do Blogmas! You should join me!blogmas.jpg***Photo belongs to KaylaAnn, please do not reuse without permission***

What do you love most about December? Will you be participating in Blogmas?

        1. So for blogmas, you post every day on a christmas subject until christmas (I’m not doing every day, but I’m still posting frequently). You write it on your own blog and under tags be sure to put “blogmas” so other people interested in blogmas posts can see them! I can’t wait to view yours. I’ll be posting 100 blogmas ideas in a few days

  1. I see that your definitely in the Xmas spirit. This is the first time I hear about Blogmas. Sounds intriguing. And congrats on your upcoming graduation, that’s an amazing accomplishment. I’m jelly.

  2. I know this passion of Christmas. In US it’s very very different from Europe.
Here they don’t wish you happy Christmas from the 1st day of december; they wish it only the 25th, they don’t use huge decoration inside and outside as they do over there. You can find some trees, some lights here and there around some houses, some santas and its gifts hanging on some windows, etc… European don’t have the same sense of pious familiar gathering. It is more a commercial event. I miss those “warm” Christmas holidays in US.
    But…. I don’t complain either as I don’t celebrate it.

    1. Hey there, Christmas is pretty commercialized over here as well in some aspects, but I try to focus on the true meaning of Christmas which is Christ, love and hope. It always makes me sad when other people don’t celebrate, but to each their own 🙂

  3. Congratulations my fellow graduate. Go class of 2017! It’s December, so I’ll be listening to nothing else but the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Petantonix Christmas songs. This year instead of buying everyone a gift, my family is doing a secret Santa. That moment of finally finding out what your gift is for Christmas is my favorite. That. and going to Christmas mass.

    1. Woot woot!
Oh I am with you, currently belting out some karaoke while I type haha.
Secret Santa is so much fun, in my family we buy presents for the kids and do secret santa for the adults. I’m so glad you’re in the Christmas spirit!

  4. Yes, I love the whole shebang. I have a friend who watches every Hallmark Christmas movie under the sun as soon as they start. And you know they are basically the same. There is a love story with a conflict. They make up and decorate the tree together and kiss with the snow coming down on Christmas Eve. But I eat it up too. 😀 But I don’t get too excited for Christmas until 2 weeks before. But I wish I was more like you! Congrats on completing your Master’s soon. 🙂

    1. Lol Hallmark and Lifetime, they find their niche and stick with it. One of my favorite Hallmark classics in Christmas in Handcuffs with Mario Lopez lol so they’re my guilty pleasure too.
Are you going to do any Christmas posts?
      Thank you!
