It’s the “what if’s”
And “If only’s”
That causes our sleepless nights
What if the doctors had listened
Had given weight to his claims of pain
If only we had known sooner
Had realized how time would fly so quickly
Yes, it’s the “what if’s”
And “if only’s”
That flicker through our minds

I have been thinking of the ifs in this context recently too.

If’s only cause a lot of problems in themselves and make problems worse. I always figure it’s best to forget the if’s only or what if’s. Don’t worry about what could have been, concentrate on what is now, far better! Thanks for sharing that.

You’re right Steve, we cannot allow ourselves to get stuck wondering “what if?”

I look back at the “what ifs” in my life and think how I could have changed it. But the situations were such I had no control. Once I realized that I felt more at peace with myself. What mattered was I there when I was needed.

Exactly true Eugenia. There is so much in this world that we cannot control, so we can only focus on what we can control and do our best along the way.
