Benches

They took away my benches
There is no place to sit
They took away my benches
And I might throw a fit

I visited my old high school
The day before the last
I felt that all too familiar pull
From memories of the past

Those benches of silver steel
Used to house my friends
It was there we made our deals
And there we made amends

They took away my benches
There is no place to lay
They took away the benches
That stood there in my day

  1. This poem brings quite a nostalgic feeling within me. It made me think of my old high school. Instead of silver benches, my school had wooden ones, each colored in red, blue, purple and orange.

      1. I know, right? When I was in high school, I didn’t like it, but now that my high school life is finished, I miss it. The finny thing is, I never sat on those benches. I just walked past them and thought they added color to the school.
