Weekend Blog Party *Hosted by KaylaAnn* (August)

As some of you might remember, my first Blog Party was a total smash! I really enjoyed meeting new bloggers and I know you guys did too!

So, I thought, let’s do it again!Image result for party gif

For those of you who are not aware what a blog party is let me break it down. Generally speaking, a blog party is an online gathering for bloggers of all kinds to meet and engage with one another.

Here are some simple rules:

  1. First off, everyone is welcome to participate in this Blog Party (even if you do not currently follow me, although I would LOVE it if you did!) -> If you are a new follower of my blog, say hi and let me know so that I remember to drop by your blog and check you out.
  2. Leave a Comment! Say hi and tell us who you are and what your blog is about. Feel free to leave a link connecting back to your blog’s home page or to your favorite or most recent blog post! (Post this only once please.)
  3. Mix and Mingle! This is where the party begins. I am blessed to have over 1,000 followers and this is a great opportunity for many of my friends to meet each other. You guys are amazing and I think a lot of you would enjoy meeting and following one another.
  4. Remember, you never have to follow anyone just because they follow you. However, it is good manners to always return a page visit for a page visit. Did someone stop by your blog, like or leave a comment? Do the same for them! It only takes a minute.
  5. Don’t forget to REBLOG! Spread the fun by encouraging your own followers to join in the party! This is the best way to attract new bloggers by spreading the word.

You Won’t Believe What I Did This Weekend

Well everyone, I did it. I made a Twitter.

But before I go anything further, let me just take a moment and thank all of my guests who popped in and out of my Weekend Blog Party. You guys were amazing guests, so kind, thoughtful, and engaging with one another! So many of you were able to promote your own work and support one another’s. I had so much fun hosting that I am considering making it a monthly or bi-monthly occurrence. However, I’ll leave that up to you guys. Let me know if I should host another Blog Party and how often!

Back to Twitter: I kept seeing on multiple author/blogger sites that every author/blogger should use Twitter. In fact, I’ve heard that Twitter is the “most” successful at engaging followers, and although I’m not sure if that’s true, I figured I would expand my horizons and try it out.

However, now that I’ve dived into this new form of social media, I find myself at a bit of a loss. Therefore, I implore my followers (particularly those with a Twitter account) to leave a comment with a link to their Twitter accounts (so I can follow) and their #1 Twitter Tip!

Here is mine!

Find me on Twitter and let’s tweet!

Writing Tips

Writing Tip: Market Yourself

0F5D6529-D18A-4630-935C-E3A6744403AF

Whether you are a self-published author or an author using a traditional publishing house, it IS your job to market your work and promote yourself. You cannot wait on someone else to do it for you or for your book to simply come into existence with a fan base. While some publishing companies may help, they are not going to do everything for you. Some publishing companies might publish your book, place it online, and that’s it. And while you may get some traffic from that, it probably won’t be much.

UNLESS

You have already starting promoting yourself and your work. Many of you probably already know this, after all, that’s why many of you are bloggers. You are building your audience. Good! (This is possibly one of the most fun ways to promote because you get to build real relationships.)

By promoting yourself and your work via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Blogging, etc., you are given a chance to build an audience who is interested in what you have to say and what you publish. Otherwise, according to Jeff Goins “you’re just speaking to an empty auditorium”. So start promoting yourself.

You might be asking: “How can I do that? How can I get followers?”

Well start by following others, commenting on their posts, joining groups, building reciprocal relationships with the people in your field and then point them back to your page, group, or blog. You cannot simply set up a page and expect people to find you. (Wouldn’t that be nice?)

You have to do the work if you want the results! So get out there, set up a page, or a blog, or a website, join a group, get to know other writers, and start posting regularly.

Tomorrow I’ll be sure to post some more suggestions on exactly HOW to promote your work so be sure to keep your eyes on this blog!

How have YOU promoted your work in the past?

Be sure to answer in the comment section 🙂

Flash Fiction & GiveAway Ends Soon

The Flash Fiction Contests has been a lot of fun, but I am dying to read more of your work and the contest ends next week!

What is flash fiction? It is a story told in 100 words or less. Some of the most poignant stories can also be the shortest. One of the most famous works attributed to Hemingway is a six-word short story:

“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”

Remember, the winner of this contest will be featured on my blog! It’s a fun event and a great opportunity for your blog to get more publicity through another blog.

You can check out all information, rules, and prizes by clicking here!

So get writing!
