It’s the “what if’s”
And “If only’s”
That causes our sleepless nights
What if the doctors had listened
Had given weight to his claims of pain
If only we had known sooner
Had realized how time would fly so quickly
Yes, it’s the “what if’s”
And “if only’s”
That flicker through our minds
In honor of my Papa who passed away last year, January 14th, I will be re-posting my grief poems in the hopes that those who read these poems know that they are not alone and that our loved ones are not forgotten.

The “what if’s” and “if only’s” seem to come around too much in life. Be brave, KaylaAnn. He would have wanted it that way.

You are so right Eugenia, he would want me to be brave. He would want me to smile, to put one step forward, and to keep looking to the future. He was an amazing man.

A great reminder to cherish every single day.

Definitely. Those reminders seem so frequent nowadays. I recently just lost a student at the school I teach at. He was so young, no day is guaranteed.
