It’s You (A Poem)

In the fathomless night

I hear the whisper of my name,

Like a kiss against my ear.

And I know, I

know, it’s you.

*

Beneath the soft, familiar down

I feel sturdy, protective arms

Encircling my waist,

Pulling me tight, skin to skin,

And I know

*

I know it’s

You. You who holds

My heart. You who steadies

This racing soul that

Longs to settle in

In Your Hands.

Written a few years ago as an anniversary gift for my soon-to-be-husband.
